Woman found dead at her sink
A WOMAN was found dead leaning on her elbows with her head slumped in the kitchen sink, an inquest heard.
Margaret Wayland, who lived in Matthew’s Yard in Covent Garden, died of stenosis, a disease known to cause sudden fatal abnormality of heart rhythm.
St Pancras Coroner’s Court was told how the 61-year-old had a history of heavy drinking and anti-social behaviour.
Her epilepsy, liver damage and head injuries had been linked to her persistent alcohol abuse.
Ms Wayland’s neighbour, Kevin Phelan, who lived downstairs from her, dropped some shopping off for her on Saturday, August 26 last year. He then received a phone call from Ms Wayland’s sister two days later asking him to check on her.
Mr Phelan said: “I found the door open. I called her name many times.
“None of the lights seemed to be working. She was standing upright as if she had collapsed into the sink.”
Coroner Dr Andrew Reid recorded a death by natural causes verdict. |
