West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 8 February 2008
Deadlines on city academy
• I AM writing as a concerned parent about the flawed consultation regarding the closure of Pimlico School in August 2008, and the reopening of the school as an academy in September 2008. One would be forgiven for thinking that this is a done deal, because in the statutory consultation leaflet asking for people’s responses before Christmas, it states: “Because the future status of the school is now decided…”
However nearer the end it states that this is only a proposal.
There is much misinformation given, too, which surely prejudices the possible responses.
We are now in the final period of this “consultation” but who would know?
There have been no notices of this sent by the interim team at Pimlico, or from Westminster to the school community. Surely reminders should have been sent out after Christmas. Meetings have been requested with the Interim Executive Board and schools director Steve Farnsworth, but such requests are routinely ignored.
Further representations will be taken to Westminster Council until 5pm on February 15.
Please write your views on this academy proposal and whether you support it or not. Either email awells1@westminster. gov.uk or write to:
