We’re left in dark over planning
• NOT only will Davey Court be overshadowed by the development at the old Post Office at 17-19 Bedford Street (‘We’ll be left in the dark,’ February 8), but also the proposed multi-storey development on Bedford Court Garage will oppress, towering as it will over this corner of Covent Garden.
And both developments will envelope Duval Court and its patio/courtyard garden, cared for by residents for many years, and to be enhanced with support from a newly formed gardening club and by Peabody Trust. It won’t exactly be the bee’s knees for residents at 8 Bedford Court, or workers in some the office buildings.
We do seriously ask why the planners seem so minded to recommend acceptance of the latest Bedford Court Garage site development, that has been under consideration for months, and likely to go before the planning applications sub-committee in mid-March.
These two developments taken together will completely destroy any enjoyment of sun, direct daylight, and our garden, let alone in our homes in this already overdeveloped and frenetic area.
