Apprentice winner Tim Campbell speaking up for youth training at Kingsway College |
Apprentice winner fired up as he calls for youth training THE winner of the hit televison series The Apprentice has called on business leaders to give youngsters more opportunities in the workplace.
Speaking at Westminster Kingsway College in St James’s Park last week, Tim Campbell, who won the first series of the show, said apprenticeships could ease young people into the world of work.
“I’d love more organisations and established companies to open their doors to apprenticeships to get lots of young people in to see and feel what industries they want to go into and to see if it is right for them,” he said.
“The beauty of apprenticeships is that it crosses that bridge because they get on-the-job and off-the-job training. You get support from the employer, real tangible skills and a bit of money in your pocket which is an important motivator for young people. What we can do with apprenticeships is to open the minds of young people to what’s actually possible – to demystify the world of work.” |
