Residents calling for a new pedestrian crossing gather at the junction of Harrow Road, Ladbroke Grove and Kilburn Lane |
Residents: ‘Road safety future is at a crossroads’
“GIVE us a pedestrian crossing before someone gets killed,” warned Queen’s Park residents who handed a petition to the council on Wednesday.
The 700-strong petition submitted to the full council meeting on Wednesday called for a crossing at the three-way junction between Harrow Road, Ladbroke Grove and Kilburn Lane.
Residents say the junction is a deathtrap with so many schools and shops in the area.
Queen’s Park councillor Paul Dimoldenberg said: “There is a clear need for a pedestrian crossing at this very busy junction and we will be calling for urgent action to increase safety for pedestrians as quickly as possible.
“We will be working with Karen Buck MP, Murad Qureshi and our colleagues in Brent, Kensington and Chelsea and Transport for London to get a pedestrian crossing installed as a matter of urgency. It would be a tragedy for someone to be seriously injured or worse.” |
