Star Brown to call the tune at green party
GUITAR legend Joe Brown will top the bill at the St Patrick’s Day festival on Sunday.
The Cockney rock ’n’ roller will join pop darling Roisin Murphy on the main stage in Trafalgar Square as part of the day-long street party and parade.
Other main stage acts include hotly tipped singer-songwriter Luka Bloom and Meteor award winners Aslan.
Large crowds are expected to attend the annual celebration of all things Irish with all 32 counties from Limerick to Donegal set to troop their colours on the parade from Hyde Park Corner. Along with the customary pints of Guiness, novelty hats and lepricorn garb, revellers will be able to sample Irish delicacies at the Covent Garden food market and jig along in an authentic giant ceili in Leicester Square.
The festival is the jewel in the crown of a packed programme of events across the West End to mark the day.
Other highlights include the Irish Film Festival and a string of live comedy events.
Festivities kick off at 12 noon. For more information and to see the full programme of events visit www.london.gov.uk/stpatricksday
