Ten years for hotel room rapist
A MAN who forced his way into a hotel guest’s room before raping and robbing her has been jailed for 10 years.
Ali Hassan-Noor, 23, from Chalk Farm pleaded guilty to three counts of rape, one count of robbery and once count of fraud at Southwark Crown Court on February 4 following the horrific attack at the Holiday Inn, Fitzrovia last year.
Mr Hassan-Noor pounced on the victim, a businesswoman in her 40s, as she retired to her room at 9.30pm, following dinner with a colleague on May 22 2007.
After punching her in the face and biting her neck, Mr Hassan-Noor fled with her handbag.
The victim ran to her colleague’s room to raise the alarm.
Money was taken from the victim’s account shortly after the attack and CCTV that was subsequently seized showed Hassan-Noor withdrawing money. Police matched his DNA with traces obtained from the woman’s clothes.
Detective Sergeant Ivon Beer paid tribute to the woman for her “immense courage and dignity”.
The victim said: “I hope my case will give other victims of rape the confidence to come forward to the police. “The support I have received has been fantastic.” |
