West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 4 April 2008
Many hands made masterplan • I WAS delighted to see Jamie Welham describing my work for the St James’s Conservation Trust (Defenders of St James’s – March 28), but I would like to draw your readers’ attention to a minor error about what exactly I have “masterminded”. The St James’s architectural masterplan is titled Architecture Suitable for St James’s and was produced by an international Atkins Ltd team of design specialists, led by myself and was a team effort with the chairman and trustees in St James’s.
Although I was a City of Westminster architect and town planner, responsible from 1989-1990 for the Leicester Square improvement project, and was also involved in the improvement of Trafalgar Square from 1996-2003, I do not currently have a role in the latest stage of the redesign of Leicester Square.
