£500,000 facelift for neglected area of the Grand Union Canal
A NEW cycle route set to run alongside the Grand Union Canal in Paddington has been given the green light as part of a £500,000 makeover.
The neglected section of the famous canal, which stretches from Harrow Road to St Mary Magdalene Church, will also boast a network of walkways and educational facilities to encourage people back into the area.
The facelift, which is due to be completed by July, is being joint funded by Transport for London and the council.
Dr Leith Penny, Westminster Council’s director of environment and leisure said: “This is an incredibly exciting project which will transform an unloved and unused part of the city into a valuable green space for everyone to enjoy.” |
