Chauffeur claimed £10,000 in benefits
A BENEFIT cheat who lied about his job as a chauffeur and pocketed nearly £10,000 has been ordered to serve 80 hours’ community service.
Fraud investigators discovered that Massoud Kaheh, from the Lisson Green estate in Marylebone, was filing false claims for housing benefits for two years while working as a full-time chauffeur to earn an annual salary of around £35,000.
Sentencing the 46-year-old at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Judge Nicholas Evans said Mr Kaheh “knew very well what he was doing and acted in a calculated way”.
Toni Walker, benefits chief at Westminster Council, said: “Benefit fraud is a serious matter as it takes away resources away from genuine claimants. We will continue to clamp down on those who think it is acceptable.” |
