Benefit cheat took £40,000
BENEFIT cheat Gillian Walden, 54, came unstuck when the fraud squad discovered she had been using false identities to claim £40,000 over 11 years while sitting on savings of £250,000, City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard.
Judge Nicholas Evans said it “was a shrewd and moderately sophisticated fraud”.
Walden, who denied the savings were hers, was found guilty of 11 counts of making false statements and is due to be sentenced on May 7. |
