The tree in Mayfair |
Mayfair’s top tree
A TREE in Mayfair has been named as Britain’s most valuable.
The plane with a six foot girth in Berkeley Square is said to be worth £750,000 by tree offficers at Westminster Council.
They have arrived at the figure by way of a new system which considers size, health, historical signifcance and the number of people living nearby.
The London Tree Officers Association’s Capital Asset Value for Amenity Trees system aims to stop trees blamed for housing subsidence being cut down. The higher the tree value, the more proof insurers need that it is a nuisance before it can be chopped down. |
