Trio are jailed for murdering chef
THREE men who robbed and murdered a West End chef have begun life sentences.
Hours after meeting a new “friend” in a bar the victim, Mohammed Raheem, was brutally attacked and left to die, the Old Bailey heard.
The trusting 29-year-old was found tied up and suffocated at his flat when worried workmates went to investigate. He had been badly beaten, his arms and feet were tied and he was face down.
Mr Raheem was killed during a robbery after meeting builder Igor Irinel, 22, in a pub in Old Quebec Street, in May last year.
They returned to Mr Raheem’s flat in Knight’s Hill, West Norwood, for sex. Irinel and a fellow Romanian, Sorin Abuculesi, 33, and his brother, Savu Abuculesei, 32, all from Higham Road, Tottenham, were convicted of murder.
Irinel was also found guilty of robbery. Judge Jeremy Roberts, QC, ordered Irinel to serve a minimum 30 years, Sorin Abuculesei 28 years and his brother 23 years. |
