A1 drivers find a ‘pit stop’ in Regent Street
PETROL-heads got their octane fix at the weekend when 22 racing cars took their grid positions in the middle of Regent Street.
But there was no chequered flag because the A1 grand prix cars and their drivers stood on ceremony for the delection of car enthusiasts. There were also simulated pit stops and appearances from Formula 1 legends Emerson Fittipaldi and Alan Jones to keep the crowds entertained.
The A1 grand prix was devised so all drivers used the same cars.
The season runs from September to May with Switzerland currently leading the field of 22 states.
