Elena Salvoni at L’etoile where she went the extra miles for Cancer Research |
Elena goes a little off course!
A TOP restaurateur has swapped her apron for a running vest to raise money for Cancer Research.
Elena Salvoni, 88, has spent a lifetime on her feet tending to the tastes of customers in celebrity eaterie Elena’s L’etoile in Charlotte Street.
Over the years famous guests have included Princess Diana, Sean Connery and Mick Jagger.
Mrs Salvoni was unable to make it to the start line in the Race For Life charity event in Battersea Park on Wednesday because of work, so strapped a pedometer to her leg to notch up 5km running between tables.
Mrs Salvoni, who lost her father to cancer, said: “I’m always busy on my feet. I cover many miles of the restaurant floor every day. I had my pedometer tucked into my garter to run the 5km distance during my shift to raise money to help beat cancer.” |
