• AN envelope containing a crumpled £20 note was delivered to Yming by our local postman. Looking at the addressed envelope, I realised that the money was sent by someone who felt strongly about the Sichuan disaster, doing whatever they could. There is no return address or mention of the sender, just hoping that the money would bring something. It was marked “Please forward to China Appeal Chinatown”.
Someone, however, added to the envelope “Soho, London”, hence it arrived at my doorstep, delivered by Nick who is the local postman and who knows the area very well. Where else to deliver such a letter?
We are very grateful to Nick, a man of integrity. To the person who sent the £20, on behalf of the Chinese: thank you, how very kind of you, we are touched. A cheque for £20 will be sent to the Chinese Embassy.
