Parent had no option but to take legal action

• I NOTE Councillor Sarah Richardson’s comments about the legal challenge that a parent has taken against Westminster (It’s time to put the pupils first and drop legal action, June 6).
How ironic that this is the same person who has spent the past year presiding over the very process that has resulted in a parent having no option but to take legal action.
Westminster chose to ignore the overwhelming feeling against an academy and treated those who wanted more information with contempt. Far from being driven by narrow political interests, those concerned about the education of their children at Pimlico have sought assurances about basic issues such as how many parent governors there will be.
Westminster’s own political motives are clear – they want to hand over a school and its prime location on a 125-year lease to a Tory party donor.
Many involved with Pimlico School are still extremely concerned and that’s why an appeal is being prepared.
The Legal Aid system Cllr Richardson thinks is a waste of public money was set up to ensure social and legal justice for those not otherwise able to access their rights.
Does Cllr Richardson think you should only have this type of redress if you are rich enough to pay?
No doubt she thinks she knows best and that we should know our place!
