Ruby Pasong, at National Theatre workshop |
School’s out for summer? Not for these new theatre luvvies!
SAY summer school to most children and they will probably turn a putrid shade of green and run for the hills.
But that hasn’t been the experience of sixth formers taking part in a special three-day programme aimed at bringing often dreary Renaissance-age literature to life through drama.
Students were even treated to a trip to the theatre as part of the school run by Westminster Council.
Ruby Pasong, 17, form Grey Coat Hospital school in Pimlico said: “It has been wonderful to have the opportunity to go to the theatre – seeing a play live really made the words come to life and enabled me to have a much better understanding of the literature. “The summer school has been excellent preparation for university by encouraging me to think for myself and helping me to consider language in a different way.” |
