West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 5 September 2008

I paid my own way to China
• WEST End Diary reports (Mayor Boris’s Olympic effort to budge a Labour Party man, August 29) that I was “invited to the Olympics as a London politician” and he comments: “Nice if you can get it”.
The implication is that I enjoyed a subsidised trip to Beijing.
In fact, I visited China as a private citizen during my summer holidays, to watch the sports events and support Team GB, just as I did at the Athens Olympics four years ago. I paid for my own ticket and stayed with friends in Beijing. Murad Qureshi AM
