‘Single’ Facebook wife stabbed to death
AN estranged husband travelled across London to carry out a horrific knife attack on his wife after she changed her Facebook status to single.
HGV driver Wayne Forrester, of Lisson Grove, slashed and stabbed mother-of-two Emma in a jealous frenzy.
The couple’s six-year-old daughter watched from the top of the stairs as Emma, 34, collapsed, the Old Bailey heard.
Forrester, 34, has now begun a life sentence after admitting the murder of his wife. Judge Brian Barker, QC, ordered that he must serve a minimum of 14 years behind bars.
Prosecutor Alex Lewis said the couple’s marital problems led to a split and wages clerk Emma went to live in Markfield Road, New Addington, near her parents.
On February 18 Forrester drove to her home at 6am after drinking and taking drugs. He was armed with a knife and a meat cleaver and had repeatedly issued death threats over the phone. “A neighbour heard her front door being broken in. Then he heard her crying out,” said Miss Lewis.
When police arrived in response to 999 calls, Mrs Forrester was found covered in blood on the hallway floor. She had gaping wounds to her neck, head, stomach and arms.
Forrester walked towards the officers with blood on his outstretched hands and indicated that he should be handcuffed and arrested.
Later he said: “I had no control over what I was doing. She posted messages telling everyone she had left me and was looking to meet men. I was devastated and humiliated by it.” |
