West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 21 November 2008
Ball back in their court
• I CANNOT see how anyone can defend a small number of coaches who have refused the opportunity of joining a Lawn Tennis Association-endorsed scheme which offers discounted tennis coaching to all our residents, in favour of continuing to use the courts for their private clients (Labour calls fault in tennis row, November 14). If they’re only interested in serving the interests of private clients, then surely it’s only fair that they should not expect to get access to our tennis courts at a subsidised rate.
They can’t have it both ways.
At this time of financial pressure on families, our main concern is to see how we can make sports facilities available to as many of our residents as possible.

Cabinet member for customers and neighbourhoods Westminster City Council
