Lights up! Santa Claus has come to town
IT was snowing in Marylebone for the biggest-every Christmas lights switch-on. Carol singers from St Marylebone Girls School and Queen’s College among others helped transform the high street into a winter wonderland on Wednesday night.
The main event was served up by Gaby Logan, flicking the switch to shower the crowds in shards of technicolour. And there was plenty more on offer, with a smoking barbecue, German-style market – and even Santa made it all the way from Lapland.
He did such a roaring trade the queue snaked all the way down to Oxford Street, but there was no “bah hum-bugging” to be heard.
The bonanza was organised by the Harold de Walden estate, and money raised from the event went to the children’s charity Sparks. |
