West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 19 December 2008
Who’s made a difference to you?
• THIS is the time when everyone seems to take stock of the year that has passed, and make resolutions for the future. It also marks the first six months of my leadership and it’s been an eventful year.
The council is not immune from the global events or recession, far from it. But I am confident that we are well-placed to weather the economic downturn and through projects such as Family Recovery and our City Recovery plan, we are doing our utmost to help all residents and businesses during these difficult times.
After Christmas I will be spelling out clearly how we plan to continue our ambitious recovery programme, while further increasing our standards of service.
In the meantime we want to hear from our residents about who they think deserves recognition for helping the local community in 2008.
If you know someone special who has made a real difference, please nominate them for a Neighbourhood Leadership Award.
We’re giving away three cash prizes of £1,000 each in the following categories: • changing the community for the better;
• changing the lives of children and young people; and
• changing the lives of older people.
You can find out more detail and vote online www.westminster.gov.uk/ leadersawards.
You can also email a nomination directly at onecity@westminster. gov.uk or call 020 7641 2412.
I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas, and a very prosperous new year. Cllr Colin Barrow
Leader, Westminster
City Council
