Thames Water warned over damage to streets
THAMES Water has been told to improve its services following work that left historic 18th-century flagstones in a Marylebone street severely damaged.
Members of the built environment and scrutiny committee grilled the utility company, urging a closer relationship with the council to protect heritage areas during disruptive works.
They also recommended giving shop-owners and landlords more warning ahead of major works to protect against loss of business.
Councillor Angela Harvey, chairwoman of committee said: “At the moment Thames Water has no idea how much money its mains replacement and other works are costing local business. “All utility companies need to work with residents and businesses in Westminster to make life easier, not more difficult.” |
