Cowardly behaviour
• The BBC'S teletext service Ceefax on December 31 reported that the Prime Minister tells Roman Catholics he is utterly against changing the law on euthanasia while another report accused the NHS of a growing lack of compassion.
So, the same political cowardice that sends police officers to kill doing the State’s work also obliges doctors to exercise humanity’s mercy outside the law. Only politics and the church could manage such a gutless farce and assume pious righteousness by sending these individuals for trial. Mark Newberry
