Atheists on the buses
• AS a cyclist, I’m used to close shaves with buses. It’s a bit much though when the buses also have a dig at what I believe: “There probably is no God” (Fair comment? Or one way to lose your ticket to heaven?, January 9).
But the fleet of atheist buses do give rise to a serious question. While sundry celebs splash their pounds on these ads, what are local churches doing? We may not have quite the same eye-watering budget, but we are doing things like providing food and accommodation to rough sleepers, working alongside drug users, street drinkers and sex workers and building partnerships with schools and community groups.
A pity these bus-ad atheists can’t find more constructive ways to spend their riches! Rev Philip North
