West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 16 January 2009
Is it time for a special community award?
• THE Leader of Westminster calls for names of a person(s) who has “changed the community for the better”.
Given Westminster’s indifference to the look of much of Westminster may we suggest a better award be “Changed the Community for the Worse”?
We nominate his environment political colleagues for somehow letting the pavements and roads in Soho become worthy of a third world country; I have fallen down twice in the last few weeks, thanks to their potholes and cracked paving stones. A special prize should go to those members of the council who have let the iconic small cottage in the middle of Soho Square fall into utter disrepair. We were promised its renewal in the autumn. It still stands (just) rotting and unrepaired.
City Recovery Plan? What a load of politicians’ tosh. Malcolm Rasala
