COUNCIL tax is set to be frozen for the second year running.
Senior members in the council’s cabinet recommended that a the charge should stay at £687.62 for a band D property, making Westminster’s Council tax the lowest in the country.
The decision is due to be formally ratified at a meeting next week.
Melvyn Caplan, Westminster’s cabinet member for finance, said: “We are facing a new tough financial reality and so it is only right and proper that we do everything we can to support our residents through the recession.”
More than £500 million has been set aside as part of the council’s capital investment programme with a further £11million being earmarked for front line services. |
