Parents find hanged son

A FATHER of two was cut down by his parents after they found him hanging from a telephone cord in his Paddington flat, an inquest heard.
Rupal Vyas, 36, “a devoted father” and successful accountant took his life after suffering depression following the separation from his wife of 11 years. He was discovered in his St Mary’s Terrace home by his parents on January 28 after they became anxious he was not returning calls and had not sent his usual goodnight text message to his son. He was found hanging from a cupboard door.
The inquest heard that Mr Vyas had tried to take his life in 1996, but his depression had eased off following the birth of his son. In 2006 he took an overdose of sleeping pills and painkillers for a second time, and began to see a psychotherapist about tackling the stress of his failing marriage and large workload.
Bhavani Vyas told the court: “Rupal was kind, gentle, loyal and a hard worker. He was academically very able and loved football, cricket and bodybuilding. He was a perfectionist especially when doing DIY round the house and helping his son and four-year-old daughter with their homework.”
Westminster Coroner Dr Paul Knapman recorded death by hanging. “Rupal was under severe stress and suffered with depression. He decided on a course of action and this resulted in him killing himself.”
