Risks with Circus crossing
• A NEW crossing for Oxford Circus (Pedestrian makeover for circus, April 17)?
In principle this sounds fantastic but only as a model made of plastic.
The expense may be low compared with the dome, but will traffic accidents increase as shoppers road-roam.
What will be the effect when four lanes see red, the Oxford Circus tail-backs will now not be just a rush-hour dread.
The size of the junction will take time to cross, so if you drive through daily, don’t forget your floss. With the new bike rule, it will equal a death trap.
I strongly recommend that this crazy idea is scrapped to avoid mayhem on our streets.
This crossing will go down in history. How the hell it got approved, will remain a mystery. Name and address supplied
