Say no to bike fees
• HAVE the parking services at Westminster City Council lost the plot?
Councillor Danny Chalkley has failed to make any sensible statement as to the introduction of pay-by-phone to park scheme for motorcycles.
This is a scheme which has shown the parking department is unable to add up simple sums.
Faced by a mass protest group of motorcyclists from all walks of life and from all over the country (well over 2,000 at the March 31 demonstration) the council has sunk to begging local companies to write to the chairman of NoToBike ParkingFees.com to call off Monday’s demonstration, which was to bring Westminster to a crawl in the evening.
They are using public money to try to stop the public from bringing to everyone’s attention the farce which is the council’s parking department and strategy.
It is the parking department who is killing off trade in the West End not the motorcyclists who are leaving with their money to spend in shops in other boroughs.
How do the traders feel about that and the £3million annually that will be missing from their tills? Nicholas Kotarski, via email
