Think again on fountains
THE Centre Point fountains were designed for an intensely urban setting and this should be taken into account when planning their future.
The concept of lobbing them into Hampstead’s Whitestone Pond is a brilliant distraction for the owners and architects – what a useful excuse .
The fact is that the fountains should stay with the building that they were specifically designed for.
Whitestone Pond is a quasi-rural location that is completely inappropriate for the fountains’ relocation.
Separation of the fountains from their designed setting loses their meaning and our appreciation of them.
It is astonishing that the any authority should be allowing this to happen . Dominic Cole
