Frame at last! Mayor backs bikes
WESTMINSTER schoolchildren joined Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Olympic star James Cracknell in Trafalgar Square to kickstart a cycling revolution in the capital.
The first wave of planning applications have now been submitted for bike pick-up and drop-off points across central London for the hire scheme which has been championed by the mayor.
Mr Johnson said: “Cycling is on the up, but there is still much to do if we want to really revolutionise the way that Londoners get about.
“That’s why we are making record investments in cycling, developing the cycle highways and cycle hire scheme, and are unveiling a summer schedule stuffed full of biking events, competitions and campaigns designed to boost cycling across London.” |
