Big summer fayre all set to boost teenage cancer charity
THE sixth annual Marylebone village summer fayre returns on Sunday.
From 10am until 5pm the main streets of Marylebone will be closed to traffic to host the extravaganza complete with food stalls, dancing, games and music.
Whether it’s live music in Paddington Gardens, bouncing on the castle and trampolining in the children’s zone, satiating your sweet tooth at the chocolate stalls or keeping the summer spirits flowing with a glass of Pimm’s, there’s something for everyone.
Singer-songwriter Alice Watts will take centre stage at the Bedford Bandstand, which will be hosted by BBC radio presenter Tony Moore.
Other activities include a mini tennis school, face painting and there will be an all-important ice-cream van on hand for any sugar emergencies.
The weekly farmers’ market will be a fixture, with added help from local eateries including La Fromagerie and the Ginger Pig, and the culinary trail will continue with the Orrery Epicerie putting on a barbecue alongside a special street shop from The Conran Shop. And once suitably stuffed, there is flamenco, salsa and swing classes to help burn off the calories.
Money raised from the fayre will be put towards the Teenage Cancer Trust, which helps teenagers and young adults with cancer, leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and related diseases by providing specialist teenage units in NHS Hospitals.
Chief executive of Teenage Cancer Trust Simon Davies said: “We are very grateful to the Marylebone Fayre, and all the companies involved, for choosing to support Teenage Cancer Trust.
“The fayre looks set to be a fantastic day out in London, and every penny raised will help us to ensure that young people with cancer across the UK get the best possible care and support.”
