‘Godsend’ Curline is made an MBE for years of caring
A CARE assistant who has been looking after elderly people in their homes for 20 years was among a host of people from Westminster who made it onto the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Curline Hibbert, 67, from Kensal Green, described as a “godsend” by those who rely on her daily visits, was awarded an MBE for her 20 years of unbroken service at Westminster Council.
Ms Hibbert told the West End Extra she was thrilled to be named. “It’s a great honour to be an MBE and I feel very pleased and very privileged.
I intend to wear it with pride and show it off to all the people I visit,” she added.
Most prominently, Belgravia resident and veteran horror star Christopher Lee was knighted. Mr Lee, 87, has more than 250 film and television appearances to his name, including Count Dracula and the The Wicker Man.
Academia and the fashion world are also well represented. Professor Linda Partridge from University College London was made a Dame for her research into the biology of ageing.
Head of London College of Fashion Professor Frances Corner was awarded an OBE for services to fashion as was the creative director of Burberry, Christopher Bailey.
Gail Rebuck, chief executive of publishing company Random House, was made a Dame and Nicholas Coleridge, managing director of Conde Nast, was awarded an OBE for services to publishing. |
