West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 26 June 2009
Borough boundaries and schools
• IN the debate about the lack of primary school places, Camden denies having advised parents to take school places in Westminster and Islington.
My son has not been offered any school in Camden (our home address is not close enough to any school which is not a faith school) and we have appealed against this.
In response to our appeal Camden is asking the panel that “given that alternative places are available, it would be inefficient use of resources to overfill one school while another has vacancies... The LA therefore asks the committee not to uphold this appeal”.
The list of schools given by the council are:
• two schools in Camden (which no longer have spaces available);
• 13 schools in Islington (where the closest school to our home address is 2.6 miles away), the rest are more than three and four miles;
• five schools in Westminster. Shiry Nebe
