Pupil’ lunch with ‘Big Jim’
THE local bobby known as “Big Jim” – aka PC Jim Sollars of the Soho Safer Neighbourhoods team – has been cooking for the older ladies and gents of Soho for 20 years.
Yesterday (Thursday) there were some extra faces at the Soho Community Centre luncheon club as PC Sollars served up macaroni cheese and roast gammon to youngsters from the Soho Parish School, who were at St Anne’s church in Dean Street to sing for the elderly group.
West End Timebank, who sponsored the lunch, is planning more work with the community in the next few months.
Janet Vance has run the lunch for 15 years and appealed for new members to join her for the weekly three-course lunch, which costs £2.50. |
