‘London loved him’: Theatre shrine tribute to Michael Jackson

MICHAEL Jackson’s tragic death last week brought a flurry of emotion to the capital.
People from all corners of the world came to pay homage to the “King of Pop” outside The Lyric Theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue, where a memorial has been set up. The theatre, which is showing the musical of Jackson’s life, Thrillier, became awash with flowers and cards after the news of his death.
Paying his respects, Oscar Walters, a 40-year-old salesman from Brooklyn, said: “He had a tough life. There was so much hate for him in America. In London people always showed him love.”
