Appeal on restaurant shootings
POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for information following a double shooting in a St John’s Wood restaurant on June 26.
Officers from Operation Trident are understood to be working on the theory that the shooting in Harry Morgan restaurant was the work of hitmen, and not a “postcode” youth gang as first suspected.
Police have issued the first descriptions of two suspects who left a
31-year-old man and a boy, 15, with gunshot wounds to the leg and arm. The suspects are both described as of slim build, wearing dark coloured clothing, and in their early 20s. One wore a hooded top done up tight to cover his face and the other wore a crash helmet with the visor down.
The sequence of events has also become clearer since the initial days of the investigation.
The 31-year old victim was in the deli part of the restaurant buying a takeaway, while the boy was sitting in the main dining room eating with his family.
One gunman entered the deli and opened fire, pursuing the man into the main restaurant as he fled. The second gunman remained outside, firing through the restaurant window. The suspects are believed to have fled up St John’s Wood High Street towards Wellington Street, jumping into a getaway car in Cochrane Street.
DCI Sally Jeffrey said: “We really want to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Harry Morgans restaurant at around 9pm on the night in question, Friday June 26. “If you saw anyone who was in the vicinity, or know anything about this incident, please give us a call.”
