New trauma centre to be based at St Mary's
A WORLD-class specialist centre for trauma has been given the go-ahead for St Mary’s in Paddington.
The Praed Street hospital was selected to provide life-saving emergency care, following a consultation by Healthcare for London (HfL). The centre, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is expected to save around 500 lives a week and reduce long-term disability.
It will be staffed by a consultant-led team of specialists.
Claire Perry, managing director of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the Trust has been selected by Healthcare for London to provide a major trauma centre at St Mary’s and I’d like to give my sincere thanks to all those involved to date.” |
