Cold comfort! Artist ready to unveil capital ice sculpture
ONE man who won’t mind bungling weather forecasters wrongly predicting long hot summers is Duncan Hamilton.
Mr Hamilton is an ice sculptor, and plans to unveil his giant 10m x 3m London skyline next month in Covent Garden piazza.
If things continue as they are he won’t have any need for a standby freezer when it is fully carved.
The sculpture, which will include Canary Wharf, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and the Gherkin, is being paid for by Smirnoff Vodka in order to promote their two new flavours, apple and lime. It will go on display on September 11, taking four men around five hours to carve, and lasting little more than 24 hours before melting. |
