Welcome! Youngsters are invited into synagogue
ST JOHN’S Wood synagogue opened its doors to a group of schoolchildren this week as part of a drive to build up understanding of world religions.
The youngsters from St John’s Wood adventure playground were welcomed by Rabbi Alexandra Wright.
They were shown the sacred Torah scrolls, which were restored following their confiscation by the Nazis when they occupied Czechoslovakia.
Mrs Wright said: “It was wonderful to welcome such a diverse group of children to our synagogue. Judaism teaches how important it is to support the disadvantaged and marginalised. “It is our responsibility to support programmes like this that promote integration and cohesion. This kind of programme offers everyone an enriching experience.” |
