West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 28 August 2009
Humans beat robots in the library
• A LIBRARY is much more than a building full of books. It is a meeting place and a resource centre for ideas and dreams.
Replacing staff with machines sounds like a dark plot from a book in the science fiction section. Robots always break down as will automatic book dispensers. I have never found a machine that had a thoughtful, kind and helpful option, qualities displayed in abundance by library staff. MARY HANCOCK
