Celtic fan Whitehall stabbing
POLICE say the stabbing of a man wearing a Celtic shirt just yards from Downing Street was not “football related”. The 20-year-old was knifed in the chest while gathered with other men wearing Celtic shirts shortly before his team played Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The man was taken to hospital where his condition is described as “stable”.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called shortly after 6.30pm on Wednesday to reports of a man stabbed in Whitehall Place. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service where he remains in a stable condition. Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing and so far no arrests have been made. At this stage there is no evidence the incident was football related.”
