Democratic red light
MY conversations with residents on the Mayor of London’s plan to remove traffic lights in Mayfair in order to improve traffic flow indicate that local residents are split three ways on this issue – some for, some against and some who see advantages in some lights being removed.
But no one has been asked!
Why have the mayor, Westminster City Council and the West End Conservative councillors failed to consult residents on a proposal that could have life and death consequences for local people, office workers and shoppers?
Labour councillors are now calling on the city council and the London mayor to consult residents before traffic lights are moved from streets in Mayfair. cllr Paul Dimoldenberg
