Hot stuff? Festival up for a top award
WEST END Live, a giant free theatre festival held in Trafalgar Square, is in the running for a prestigious London award.
The annual two-day show tune extravaganza is up against the Notting Hill Carnival for the “hottest” music event in the Visit London People’s Choice Awards.
Councillor Robert Davis, cabinet member for special events, said: “To be shortlisted alongside the likes of international popstar Madonna and the long-established Notting Hill Carnival shows just how popular live West End entertainment is and how well regarded the festival is in the London calendar.”
More than 250,000 people attended West End Live this year, with highlights including Jason Donovan and Jerry Springer.
