West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 1 October 2009
A waste of our money
• THIS week I discovered that the Conservatives spent over £56,000 on a failed legal attempt to stop a development of over 300 new homes, a swimming pool and facilities in Coin Street, Lambeth. Why try to stop new homes in other boroughs? Last week it was revealed the bill for private health care for 100 senior council officers has increased this year from £225,000 to over £250,000. These top officers already enjoy salaries of £100,000 plus a very generous pension. Why are council tax payers paying for private health care for this top elite?
Money is scarce – £17million invested in failed Icelandic banks – surely Westminster Conservatives should be cutting out this wasteful spending. Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg
Leader of the Labour Group
