Pride award is their goal

THE samba drums could be heard under the Westway this week as an already decorated Brazilian soccer school was nominated for yet another prestigious award.
Samba Street Soccer, which originated on the Brunel estate in Westbourne Green, is up for a Pride of Britain award on Monday night for its work with deprived youngsters.
Founder and ex-pro Andrew Amers-Morrison will have tea with Prime Minster Gordon Brown on Monday ahead of the television appearance.
Mr Amers-Morrison hopes next week’s big moment will encourage potential donors to get on board and help fund the club, which at the moment is without a permanent base.
He said: “If you ask the kids what they want they all say we want a home of our own.”
