Zoe Salmon flicks the switch, to herald the Marylebone Christmas lights |
Up in lights Zoe flicks the switch for Marylebone’s festive fun
FESTIVE guests including Santa and his elves joined merrymakers on the streets of Marylebone on Wednesday night as its famous lights were switched on.
Carol singers from St Marylebone Girls’ School and Queen’s College, among others, joined acts including Elvis to entertain the crowd.
Dancing on Ice star Zoe Salmon flicked the switch, showering the crowd with colourful sparks, before a lively performance from the Marylebone Rock Choir.
There was plenty to enjoy – children queuing for Santa’s grotto were entertained by a magician and juggler while parents enjoyed roasted chestnuts and mulled wine.
Estate agent Ricky Dengel, who dressed up as a Christmas tree to raise money for children’s charity Sparks, said: “We do something every year for the chosen charity and it’s not that often you get to dress up as a Christmas tree. It’s been great fun – as an estate agent it’s probably the only time people don’t hate me.”
The event was organised by the Howard de Walden estate. |
